45k Walk To Bungawarra

Saturday the 4th of October

I possibly spelt the title wrong, anyways. There is this building in the middle of nowhere that the School owns called Dick Austen, I have mentioned it prior and that was our finishing line, it is very close to Coxs River.

I would also like to mention that on a map, it would not seem like 45 Ks, thats because it goes up and down pretty much all the way.

So yeah, Lisa and I (With Jessie and Nikki) got up at about 4:50 to be at the BMGS at 5:30 am. (Ken was at work because of a 12 hour night shift, and we could not leave the kids alone in the house) we drove to the school, and pretty much the second I got the i regretted signing up.

So, we went from Wentworth Falls to Blackheath in the first go (First 15ks if i remember correctly) at Blackheath we got "Morning Tea". And at that point and the 10Ks before that I had felt sick, and I honestly thought of giving up, because there was noooo way I would finish it with how i felt.

I decided on keeping on and I once more felt sick, but it stopped after 7ks and I was a bit better.

Now, the tough part began.
We litterly walked down the mountains for 2 hours, it was just sooo bad and it really hurted. That was really the point where i thought "This is gonna be tough". Did not help that we got fake encouragement by the volunteers, they kept saying "Almost 5ks left, almost there" It was not 5 ks, and we were not almost there!

After about 30 Ks we had lunch, and I finally felt fresh, as in not sick. However my feet hurted as ever before. I have never experienced anything like it ouch!

We decided to keep going and after about 9 ks I realised I have been at that point before (It was a small firestation in the middle of nowhere). I still had no idea how far it was. We continued up to another hill, and at the top we could actually see the final destination. And I tell you, I have never been more happy and sad to see a building in the middle of nowhere. Happy, you could see it, and it looked possible.
Sad, It was faaaaaaaaaar out, even further with the small steps you took when your feet hurted like this.

Anyways, we got down the hill and we were on the bridge at the Cox`s river where I met Ian, he came there to follow me back and drive me home. I had talked to another man along the way, and we both thought it was only 500 meters to the final line. But nooooooo, it just had to be 3ks....

I did finish, and geez the first thing I did was just sitting down, the whole trip has lasted about 10 Hours, thats a lot of walking! I finished somewhere between 16-17.

When I got home, I was just sooo stiff, I just went into the couch and sat, pretty much the rest of the day.

Nobody could ever get me up, ouch!
