Animal spotted: Echidna!

Animal spotted: Echidna!

Saturday The 16th of August.

Woke up early at the Downs Tuck and whereafter we went to the Country side to visit some of their friends whom are building their home on a 200 acre plot of land. It was a rather short ride, but I still got driving sick because of the fact that we went downhill and the uphill, and then downhill once more, going on for a rather long time. We saw a bunch of living deers and we also saw about 3 large Woombats and about 20 kangaroos. Too bad the kangaroos and Wombats  were "sleeping" on the side of the road...

We soon arrived to the giant plot of land and it was beautiful. I was quite old but, very nice. We had  lunch and Hagrid (Allen took Amy and I for a ride, off-road)  drove us up a hill and stopped when we saw a calf laying the grass. The rest of the herd was on the other Side of the fence and somehow the calf was on the wrong side of the fence. Allen went over to the calf and trapped it in a corner. The calf now tried to run away and it just kept jumping into the fence hurting it self. Now the herd on the other side was upset and tried to scare us off with fake charges. Allen grabbed the calf and took it down with his bare hands, he then lifted it up and tried to throw it over the fence. However a calf is quite heavy and he needed a little help. We (Allen and I) threw it over the fence and the calf got up and ran away with what we assume was its mom. We then went back in the car and for the rest of the day Allen was the Everyday Hero.

We followed on and saw a lot of huge dug holes in the ground made by the local wombats.
They were much bigger that expected and so was the pine cones we found was huge!

We continued on our off-road drive and I spotted an Echidna hiding in the tall grass. We went out of the car and walked over there. The Echidna ran off and tried to hide at a tree curling up to a ball.
So we were up real close to an Australian Echidna. Because we were so close we could also touch it. It was real spiky and you can almost compare the feeling with some spiky teenage hair. What a great off road trip!

On the road back home to our mountains we also saw a mountain goat, it was just starring at us, first one I've seen down here.

And when we got back home I tried converting the Downs Tucks to Whovians, with a Doctor Who movie (50 years) I bought from the local Woolworths, however it did not succeed :-)
