A live medical service

 Tuesday 29th

Another school day arrived and I had just thought I had settled pretty well, already made a few mates, and Hey, the librarian could remember my name!
Everything was well until I was pulled out of "Tutor class", which is a class dedicated to help with  mental problems, it's 30 minutes everyday. I was pulled out of class by the Tutor leader and she told me that I had for some reason the need to change class. With a large question mark hovering over my head I went with her to the secretary of some sort of the school. She told me that the teachers had told her I didn't do very well, and that they thought I should change To Year 10.
I was of course rather confused and asked why. She told me that the teachers thought I had no idea what they talked about and that I didn't do very well.

Well, at that moment I thought "Well, everyone is quiet on the first day of school, if not on a new school. And also the fact they are in the end of the year. And let us not forget it is also in a whole new country with a whole new school system. And if that is not enough, there is also  whole new level of the English language. So of course i would just be sitting there! Observing, not being rude, being quiet, searching for possible "mates". And then of course get an idea of what they are talking about, since they are in the middle of learning something new. Pfft, really? You don't think I would be a bit quiet on the first day of school? And judging from 1 single day, isn't that a bit harsh?

I simply said to the very worried lady in the chair "I don't want to, I'm 1,5 year older than everyone from that class. I would not fit in, and also the fact that I have met people who are welcoming me with open arms already". A smaller discussion issued, however we both got our will and it ended with that she wrote to the teachers, that I was sure I could make it, but that I had changed the following classes to Standard instead of Advanced (Why the hell would they put an international student on an advanced English and Maths anyway). And another subject to ancient history.

I honestly did not find Advanced English that rough, however I'm not mad at changing. It means less homework I suppose.
Advanced Maths was much more difficult that one would think, How should I know what the phrases needed for the calculation meant when they use words like "Surb" and "Quadribcle" ( I think that how it's spelled? ). Tasks are much more difficult when you don't understand what they mean and what these are called in English % ^ / * , and much more! You get the idea.
But then again, less homework, and the now "general Mathematics" seem quite plain and very simple however the letters phrases and the expressions still make it a bit rough without a translator.

Anyways school continued and there were students in year 11 who did not know the difference between O2 and CO2, which should be standard knowledge, at least in Denmark.
But however the students knew what rock that was on display, which is not very normal in Denmark. Soo different school systems, different ways of learning.

But they should not have judged that hard on the first day.

Anyways, I got home, and Jennifer and I drove to Woy Woy ( 2 hours 15 mins.) to A live medical service a Rotary get-together. It was a presentation by a couple from Uganda and Nigeria, they had helped people with HIV/AIDS in many years, and they had as far as I understood helped 11.000 people( Clap clap! Well done in indeed). For their actions they got the Paul Harris Recognition, which is a glorious award that Rotary gives (Google him!). It was very well done and quite a nice evening. I had fun  even though it was all "Oldies".

The show ended and we went home, we got there at midnight and I was exhausted. I just wanted to sleep, but I had to set my Alarm to 7:00, because I had school the next day.
